Australia gain confidence after winning their first ODI against Sri Lanka

Australia who lost to Sri Lanka 0-3 in the recently concluded three test match series came back strongly to answer critics by winning their first ODI against Sri Lanka at Colombo with three wickets. Australia opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Sri Lanka posted a score of 227 for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs after being invited by Australia to bat first. Kusal Mendis scored 67 runs of 95 balls and Dinesh Chandimal got 80 runs of 116 balls giving the Lankans a hope to defend after the distractive work from Australian pacers - Mitchell Starc (3-32)and James Faulkner (4-38).

With a target of 228 runs to be scored in 50 runs, the Australians started slowly and steadily towards reaching the target. The Lankan bowling haven’t seemed to be much disastrous as it had been in the test series as the Kangaroos won the match with 3 wickets in 47.5 overs.
With 4 more matches left in the series, it is still unpredictable as to which team will win and is rather interesting contest as both the sides got young and talented players.
