Sunrisers hyderabad (SRH) won the eliminator match against Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunrisers hyderabad (SRH) won the eliminator match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 22 runs to lock horns with Gujarat Lions (GL) in the second qualifier match at Feroz shah Kotla stadium in Delhi on 27th May, 2016.

After winning the toss KKR invited SRH to bat first. Shikar Dhawan started well with a couple of boundaries but lost his wicket to Morkel. Gambir bringing in Yusuf Pathan earlier than expected to bowl a few overs created pressure but Warner and Henriques continued with a decent partnership of 59 runs and departed in successive deliveries to Kuldeep Yadav. with Yuvraj Singh coming into the crease and playing a handy knock of 44 and camoes from Deepak Hooda and Bipul Sharma helped SRH to post a total of 162 runs in 20 overs.

KKR started the chase with Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir opening the batting. Uthappa lost his wicket for 11 runs, then Gambhir and Colin munro added 38 runs for the second wicket and KKR started losing in periodic intervals. It is then the young guns Suryakumar Yadav and Manish Pandey who kept the scoreboard ticking but couldn't stand tall before some exceptional death bowling of SRH by Mustafizur Rahman and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Moises Henriques was named man of the match for all round performance with the bat and ball and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was handed over the purple as he is now the leading wicket taker in the tournament with 21 wickets followed by Shane Watson of RCB with 20 wickets.

RCB Win the First Qualifier match and enter finals of IPL 2016

Royal Challengers Banglore have reached the finals of IPL 2016 by winning the first qualifier match against Gujarat Lions at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and are only one step away from grabbing their first ever IPL trophy.

AB Devilliers, with a cool composure contributed 79 runs of 47 balls leading RCB on its way to the finals. Iqbal Abdulla and Stuart Binny also came in with handy contributions supporting AB to complete the run chase. Gujarat Lions who are playing their first IPL play offs started well with Dawal Kulkarni's and fetched 4 wickets collapsing RCB's top order including the in form batsman Virat Kohli. But it was AB who held his nerve and build his innings steadily and helped his team cross the line and chase 158 runs with 10 balls left.

Earlier in the first innings Iqbal Abdulla got two big wickets of Gujarat Lions in the form of Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch in the second over. Suresh Raina fell for Shane Watson in the fourth over. It is Dwayne Smith and Dinesh Karthik who heloed Gujarat Lions to post a total of 158 in their 20 overs.

So, RCB wil play their finals at home ground with huge support from fans roaring RCB's chants. Its gonna be a electrifing atmosphere and everything is perfect for RCB to grab their first ever title. Meanwhile we have two more matches to go, to know who will be joining them in the finals on Sunday.

IPL T20 2016 Playoffs Format

Fours teams have entered the IPL 2016 playoffs in which the new franchise - Gujarat Lions (GL) lead by Suresh Raina have made it to the top of the table followed by Virat Kohli's lead Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Now, lets have a look into the format of the play offs.

3 matches (Two qulaifiers and one eliminator) to be played between 4 teams to reach the finals:

1st match (Qualifier #1):

Its a qualifier match which means the team that wins this match wil be given a berth in the finals and the loser will still be having a chance to get in to the finals by playing.
The team stationed at 1st and 2nd positions in the points table by the end of league matches will be playing the first qualifier match and winner of this match will go through to the finals.

2nd match (Eliminator):

The eliminator match is to be played between the third and fourth positioned teams in the points table. The winner of this match will play the qulaifier match #2 with the loser of qualifier #1. However, the loser of the eliminator match will be elimiated.

3rd match (Qualifier #2):

The Qualifier #2 will be played between the winning team of 2nd match and loser of 1st match in the play offs. The winner of this match will clash with winners of qualifier #1 in the finals.

To simply it, the teams ending at top 2 in the points table of league matches will have two chances to get in to the finals whereas teams ending up in 3rd and 4th placews will have to win two matches to reach the finals.
