Bangalore to host IPL 2015 auction on February 16
IPL 8 auction is coming closer,The IPL 2015 player auction will be held on February 16 at Bangalore, BCCI has announced this on January 30 and they didn’t given any information about the list of players and total number of players for the auction and the last date for franchises to submit their final list of retained players was February 4. Total 123 players in which 79 Indians and 44 foreign players were retained by the franchises for IPL 2015, while six Indian players were traded among some teams during the trading window from October 12 to December 15. “The Auction 2015 will mark as beginning of the countdown to the lucrative IPL 8, which is one of the most popular events in the world,” said Ranjib Biswal. “The Auction will be conducted as previous editions. Franchises have been working on their plans and new strategies to build their team for IPL 8. They will have the opportunity to buy some big names in the cricket like Yuvraj Singh who was released but Royal challengers bangalore, Dinesh Karthik, Hashim Amla and Kevin Pietersen are among the players who set their base price as Rs 2 crores, while Indian all rounder Irfan Pathan, Australia’s veteran Michael Hussey, Angelo Mathews and Marlon Samuels have set their base price as Rs 1.5 crore. Additional 3 crores will be added to the auction purse compared to 2014 season plus remaining amout after player fees deduced will be given to franchises. A total of 724 players may go under the hammer. England Professional Auctioneer will auction the players and it will be telecasted live on Sony Six and Sony Six HD from 9:30am. IPL 2015 will starts from April 8th and total of 65 matches will be played among 8 teams in different cities in India.
