Much awaited mega event Cricket World Cup 2015 has been started today and co host New Zealand and 2011 runner up Sri Lanka were played in the first match of Cricket World Cup 2015. Co host New Zealand Registered an easy win over Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 233 runs while chasing huge target of 331 runs set by New Zealand. New Zealand bowlers Southee, Milne, Trent Boult, Corey Anderson and Daniel Vettori took 2 wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka for 233 in their run chase of 331, Opener Lahiri Thiramanne scored 65 runs and captain Angelo Mathews scored 46 runs. Earlier New Zealand has scored 331 runs in which all the batsmen scored well with 3 fifties by captain Brendon McCullum (65 of 49 balls), Kane Williamson (57 of 65 balls) and Corey Anderson (75 of 46 balls). Corey Anderson scored at brisk pace to take New Zealand past 300 runs. Corey Anderson was named as man of the match for his all round performance. Earlier Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.

Sangakkara to play for Surrey post cricket world cup 2015

Sri Lankan star Kumara Sangakkara is in fine touch with bat will play for Surrey for the upcoming county season soon after the completion of cricket world cup 2015.
