Toss: India won the Toss and elected to bat first
Indian captain Mahedra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian openers Shikar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma started of the innings well. In the 8th over Rohit Sharma (15 runs) fell to bowler Sohail khan. Indian star batsman Virat Kohli came at No.3 at 34/1 and Shikar Dhawan and Virat Kohli batted really well to take the score board steadily with 1’s and 2’s. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan scored a record partnership of 129 runs for 2nd wicket against Pakistan in a World Cup match. With this Partnership both the batsmen who were struggling with the bad form shined beautifully. But Unfortunately Shikhar Dhawan(73 runs) got out by a run out by Misbah Ul Haq in 30th over and missed century opportunity. Suresh Raina came to bat at No.4 and both Virat and Raina facing Pakistan Bowlers well. Indiaa was now 214 for 2 in 40 overs with Virat Kohli (92 of 110 balls) close to his hundred and Suresh raina (29 from 30 balls). In Pakistan bowling, Sohail Khan got the wicket of Rohit Sharma and Mohamman Irfan Troubled Indian batsmen to some extent.
