BCCI has announced the shocking news of Dhoni’s retirement from tests. MS Dhoni has announced his retirement from test cricket immediately after the completion of 3rd test against Australia. "Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to retire from test cricket citing the strain of playing in all formats of cricket." BCCI said in press note. BCCI also said that Dhoni wants to concentrate on ODIs and T20Is. With his retirement Virat Kohli was announced as a captain for 4th and final test against Australia, which starts on Saturday in Sydney. Virat Kohli had led the team in the first test at Adelaide in absence of Dhoni due to injury. Dhoni made his test debut in December 2005 against Sri Lanka. He is India's most successful wicket-keeper batsman who played 90 tests and scored 4876 runs for India. He also bagged 294 dismissals as a wicket keeper, which is the most by an Indian keeper and 5th best in the history of world test cricket. He led the team in 60 tests holds the record of most successful test captain with 27 wins with losing 18 tests and 15 draws. India also moved to the No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings during Dhoni's tenure as captain. Dhoni has good record in India but failed in overseas test tours by winning only 6 matches of 30 matches and the ongoing test series against Australia has increased pressure on Dhoni as a captain in tests particularly in overseas after Virat Kohli impressed as skipper in the 1st test at Adelaide. Dhoni had already hinted that he will step away from one of the formats after the cricket world cup 2015. India draws the test match with 174/6 in a chase of 384 runs target and lost the series to Australia.
