Brendon McCullum becomes 1st Kiwi player to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year

In the Test match played against Sri Lanka in Christchurch New Zealand captain and wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum became the first cricketer for New Zealand to score more than 1,000 runs in a calendar year. McCullum was well known for his blistering batting also registered a hundred against Sri Lanka and it came in quick time of just 74 balls. McCullum has had a good year as he scored up a triple hundred against India in Wellington and he was the first cricketer from New Zealand to score a triple hundred. Earlier former player Martin Crowe had scored 299 against Sri Lanka at Basin Reserve, Wellington in 1990.
