India Won Second Warm up Match by 117 Runs against New Zealand

India played its second warm up match against New Zealand at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Sachin Tendulkar played the match and Zaheer Khan was rested. India won the toss and decided to bat first. V Sehwag and Sachin opened the batting for India. They gave India a decent start but soon Sachin fell for 17 runs and Sehwag was the next victim scoring 17 runs. Gambhir and Kohli took the responsibility later on and both batted very well leaving India in a very good position. Both of them scored their fifties and Kohli got out for 59. Dhoni came to the crease and joined Gambhir, batting powerplay was taken after a short while after Dhoni’s entrance. Both of them used the five overs of powerplay to the fullest as New Zealand bowlers failed to stop their aggressive batting. Later Gambhir got departed for 89 missing out on a hundred. By the time India got into a commanding position. After Gambhir it was Raina’s turn to smash the bowlers all over the work. Dhoni also joined the party of aggressive hitting which he used to do very early in his career. He reminded the aggressive Dhoni in the past yesterday hitting all the bowlers all over the park. Raina got out after a wonderful fifty meanwhile Dhoni completed his century in just about 62 balls. Later Yusuf came to the crease but has nothing to do, as the top and middle order has done good damage to the Kiwis. Finally India posted a huge score of 360/5 leaving a big challenge in front of the black caps.

The New Zealand openers Guptill and B McCullum gave a flying start to the New Zealand innings as the Indian new ball bowlers failed to post a good performance. It was until the Indian spinners started bowling Kiwis were in a good position. It was Ashwin who hav done the damage this time for New Zealand by taking the wicket of Guptill who was in a very good form. On the other side McCullum reached a quick fifty and tried to build a good partnership along with J Ryder before he got run out by Raina. Later Ryder also fell for 32 runs as the Indian spinners did a great job of picking up wickets. The New Zealand middle order failed to build partnerships among them. Indian spinners took advantage of the condition and wrapped up New Zealand for 243 runs giving India an emphatic victory with 117 runs.

Winning the two warm up matches India have kept up their hopes on the World Cup and are looking strong for winning the title after 28 years.
