India vs England | Fourth Tie Match in World Cup History

The big match, India versus England was played quite interestingly till the last ball of the match It was the fourth tied in the Cricket World Cup history. In this thriller it is neither England nor India but the match resulted in a draw with both the teams sharing a point each. This match was played in M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

India won the toss and chose to bat first. India got off to a good start with Sehwag playing his natural game and Sachin on the other side supporting him. Sehwag was dismissed by Tim Bresnan who was the pick of the England bowlers today as he bowled good length deliveries in the right areas. After Sehwag’s dismissal Sachin along with Gambhir kept the runs coming. Meanwhile Gambhir got out after getting to his fifty. Yuvraj entered the crease after the dismissal of Gambhir. Sachin showed all his master class and paced his innings beautifully scoring his 47th ODI century (5th World Cup century) and 97th century including Test and ODI formats of the game. Later he got out for 120 runs which included eight fours and five sixes. Later Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh made a quick fifty partnership and after that Yuvraj got to his fifty and got out soon. Dhoni also played good innings and got out for 31 runs. Later the Indian wickets fell very frequently and got all out for 338 runs with a ball to spare.

England with a huge target of 339 runs to chase on the board they got off to a blistering start with Andrew Strauss and K Pietersen opening the batting. But soon Munaf Patel provided the required break through for India taking off Pietersen’s wicket. Trott who arrived to the crease became a victim of Chawla for 16 runs. Bell joined Strauss and it was from then India started losing their way in the game inspite of scoring 338 runs. Strauss played a wonderful knock with his first world cup century and on the other side Bell equally played well and played a great role in bringing England very very close to the target. Till Zaheer returned to bowl his last spell it was England’s match, it was then Zak used all his experience and took the wickets of Strauss and Bell in successive balls. It was a situation in which either India or England could win. Later the lower order batsman contributed to England with the bat including Bresnan, Swann and Shahzad which had made the match end up in a tie and hence the fourth tie match in a world cup history. This is a great match of cricket and is fabulous to watch. Thanks to both the teams for playing such wonderful cricket.

India vs England, Bengaluru

India is going to play its second match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 on Sunday against England. The match will be played at M.Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. Both the teams played only one match each in the tournament and won them. India played its first match against Bangladesh and won it comfortably by posting a big score on the board. But the bowling performance of the Indians is not very impressive as they let the Bangla tigers to score freely and get to a situation that anything under 300 could be easily won by them. The bowling and fielding are the areas India has to improve and move forward into the next match. Sehwag, the hero for India in the last match is suffering from an injury and is recovering fast for tomorrow’s match.

On the other side England faced a tough challenge against the Dutch team. The match between England and Netherlands came very close that at a certain time it was thought that England might loose. But the English team somehow fought with Bopara playing well at the end of the match when England were facing a high required rate to win the match. But tomorrow’s match between the two teams will be quite interesting and is expected to be a certain thriller. There is growing demand in fans about the tickets available for the match. To meet this demand the ICC has decided to sell the tickets online which were blocked for Kolkata and English fans. But as there is less interest among these fans in coming to Bengaluru from Kolkata the ICC decided to sell these tickets online to meet the requirements of the fans. The India vs England match will be played at Bengaluru from 2:30 pm (9:00 GMT). The live match will be broadcasted on Star Cricket and Star Sports. You can even watch the live match online on

India VS Bangladesh - India Won by 87 Runs

The first match in the group stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 has been played between the co-hosts India and Bangladesh of Group B at Mirpur, Bangladesh. Huge amount of crowd have turned out to watch the opening match of the World Cup which has been kicked off today. Bangladesh has out played India in the 2007 World Cup in the group stage itself, not allowing India to qualify for the quarter finals. So, the match played today turned out to be an interesting contest between the two teams, whether it would be India who takes revenge for their defeat in the last world cup in the hands of Bangla tigers or would it be Bangladesh repeating the same as that of World Cup 2007.

Bangladesh captain Shakib-al-Hasan won the toss and invited India to bat first. India started the innings very well with opening batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Both of them looked to be in fine touch meanwhile Sachin got run out for 28 with a poor understanding between him and Sehwag in running between the wickets. Later, Gambhir and Sehwag played cool and kept the score board ticking. But after a good partnership between these two Delhi batsmen Gambhir got out for 39 runs. Virat Kohli replaced Gambhir and it was then the Indian scorecard kept moving at a rapid speed, as both the batsmen got busy scoring runs in boundaries. Virender Sehwag meanwhile reached to his second World Cup century and scored 175 runs of just 140 balls and got bowled while trying to play a tired shot. Yusuf Pathan arrived to the crease after the dismissal of Sehwag and scored 8 runs of 10 balls. Virat Kohli on the other hand scored his first world cup century in the first world cup match that he played. Both the efforts of Sehwag and Kohli lead India to post a huge total of 370 runs on the board for 50 overs which is really a huge task for the Bangladeshis to chase.

Defending a target of 371 runs Bangladesh started their innings pretty decently while Sreesanth has a bad day with the ball as he got hit all over the park. Tamim Iqbal who has been in a really good form took Bangladesh to a flying start along with the other Bangladesi opener Kayes. Both of them played well and gave Bangladesh a very good start required for chasing a target of 371 runs. But soon Munaf Patel who did wonderful job with the ball for India today did the damage to the Bangladesh innings which is going on a brisk pace. Patel got the wicket of Kayes for 34 runs at the time where India needed a break through very much. Siddique replaced Kayes who also started playing equally well with Iqbal forming a good partnership. Slowly the Indian bowlers started to get wickets at regular intervals when needed even though the Bangladesi batsmen played exceptionally well but couldn’t finally overcome the defeat in the hands of the Indians. Munaf Patel and Zaheer Khan were the pick of he bowlers for India as both of them bowled good enough where the pitch is not doing anything for the bowlers. The top and middle order of the Bangladesi line up played exceptionally well to reach some what close to the target. They scored 283 runs for a fall of 9 wickets in 50 overs. India win by 87 runs taking the revenge for their defeat by the same team in the previous world cup. So India opened their account in the points table after winning the opener of the ICC cricket world cup 2011.

Raina got out after a wonderful fifty meanwhile Dhoni completed his century in just about 62 balls. Sreesanth Replaces Praveen Kumar in India Worldcup Cricket Team

Its good news for India’s temperamental pace bowler Sreesanth, as he got into the 15 member squad of India for the upcoming ICC Cricket 2011 World Cup as a replacement for injured Praveen Kumar. Praveen Kumar was ruled out of the Indian World Cup squad because of an elbow injury. So, definitely replacing him will be a challenging task for Sreesanth, who put in some good performances in the test matches over the recent past. Sreesanth has so far played 51 ODIs for India and managed to grab 75 wickets with an economy rate of 6.01. Hope this speedster from Kerala performs his best at the mega event starting on 19th of this month.
