Virender Sehwag - Test Player Of The Year ‎2010

Indian Dashing Opener Virender Sehwag was declared ‘ICC Test player of the year 2010’ at ICC awards ceremony held at Banglore. Sehwag won his first ever ICC award of his career, overcoming the competition from Sachin Tendulkar, Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla in ‘ICC test player of the year category’. He collected the award from former West Indies bowler Courtney Walsh. He got the award for his performances with the bat during the last one year scoring 1,282 runs in 10 Tests at an average of 85.46 with the help of six centuries and four half centuries.

The other awards announced at the event are:

  • ICC Player of the year: Sachin Tendulkar (India)
  • Test Team of the year: India
  • ODI Team of the year: Australia
  • ODI player of the year: AB de Villiers (South Africa)
  • ICC Spirit of Cricket: New Zealand
  • Best Twenty20 performance of the year: Brendon McCullum (116* against Australia)
  • Umpire of the year: Aleem Dar (Pakistan)
  • Emerging player of the year: Steven Finn (England)
  • ICC Associate player of the year: Ryan ten Doeschate (New Zealand)

ICC Test team of the year: MS Dhoni (Captain), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar,  Simon Katich, Hashim Amla, Kumar Sangakkara, Jacques Kallis, Graeme Swann, Dale Steyn, Doug Bollinger and James Anderson.

ICC ODI team of the year: Ricky Ponting (Captain), Shane Watson, Sachin Tendulkar, AB de Villiers, Paul Collingwood, MS Dhoni, Michael Hussey, Daniel Vettori, Ryan Harris, Stuart Broad and Doug Bollinger.
