Virat Kohli, Raina Leads India To Win

Virat Kohli’s ton in Visakhapatnam has elevated India with a 1-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series against Australia. The 24-year old youngster took the responsibility of steering India to a successful win despite of leg injury along with Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh in the absence of the senior batsmen in the side. We can say that Kohli has successfully utilized the opportunity given to him in the absence of senior batsmen in the team like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.

Chasing a huge target of 290 runs in 50 runs, openers Murali Vijay and Shikar Dhawan became victims of McKay leaving India in a tight position of 35 for two, then Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh took charge of steering India to a comfortable position with a partnership of 137 runs off 152 balls for the third wicket. In the process Yuvraj scored 58 runs while Kohli went on scoring later with Suresh Raina making his 3rd ODI century and got out for 118 runs. Suresh Raina stealed the show hitting the Australian bowlers for boundaries and reached his half century in just 37 balls and sealed the win for India in style. Virat Kohli was the difference in the team and in the match the people who shined are Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina with the bat and R Ashwin the Chennai off spinner with the ball. Virat Kohli and R Ashwin will definitely be looking for a place in the World Cup squad.
